On August 17th at around 5:40 pm I left my gray Subaru Forester 2010 with an attendant at Icon parking on 235 West 48th Street. I returned promptly at around 9:20 pm that same evening and was instructed to pay my parking ticket, which amounted to $57 plus tax. Immediately afterwards, Edward, one of the only two parking attendants that were there, straight out told me that they didn't have my keys and I will not be able to take my car. My heart sunk, knowing that there was no way for me to get home safely, a woman on her own, that late at night in the busy and wild NYC. I live an hour and a half away in central NJ and there is no bus or train station near my home. The attendants coldly and rudely told me to just get an Uber and go home without my car. For me, this was unthinkable, since I live in the suburbs and I need a car to get anywhere, even to the local groceries store. On top of everything, an Uber price was a whooping $300 to get home. The parking attendants, especially Edward, were especially rude and did not answer all my pleas to call their manager and resolve this criminal issue.

At first, I called the police, hoping that they will help me resolve this heart ranching problem for me. I waited for them 45 min, and once they arrived they kindly informed me that there wasnโ€™t anything they could do. I was so upset, I started feeling anxiety and shortness of breath. I was all alone, in a parking garage with two rude and heatless male employees, that couldnโ€™t care less. I called a friend of mine and they suggested that I call locksmith. I immediately did, and once the parking attendance heart that I am waiting for locksmith, they started convincing me once again to get an Uber and that it will take too long for locksmith to make a new key. I didnโ€™t listen, sensing that all these two rude people wanted was to get rid of me, while keeping my car. The locksmith guy came at 12:30 am on August 18th. At that point, I was already at this horrific parking facility for 3 torturous hours. I was physically and mentally exhausted, trying to comprehend how were my keys displaced or stolen, how come was I charged for the parking and only then informed my car keys were mysteriously gone, and how come the parking attendants wanted to put me on an Uber and just get rid of me, without offering any financial compensation, not even paying for the new key.

Alas, the locksmith guy was ready with my new key at 1:30 am on August 18th. I had to personally pay $272, plus keep in mind my electronic lock was never replaces and I was sent home with just a key.

This was a horrendous experience, that not only costed me financially, but I was left with anxiety and panic attacks. I am still unable to comprehend how businesses like this are allowed to operate in the greatest country in the world. Such a shame!
